1970 saw another strong team take the field - J Anthony, David Cornwall, Billy Raybould, Paul Evans and forwards John Jeffrey, Peter Williams and Andrew Evans. They squeezed past Pontypool 9-5 but were squeezed out themselves by Llanelli 5-8 in the next round who then lost to Ebbw Vale 18-10 in the S/F. Phil Bennett was not at full speed having injured his ankle against Newport but Ebbw Vale had outstanding half-backs in Geoff Cartwright and Glyn Turner..

Neath won the title for the second time beating Ebbw Vale in the final 18-8 with little Dai Parker of Neath winning the Everson Award.
